Since April 2014, she has been president of VBO/FEB, the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium. This multi-sector employer organization defends the interests of more than 50 000 Belgian companies in nearly 150 federal, European and international bodies with the aim of creating an optimal business environment.
After her degree in economics and two years at a company in the IT sector, Michèle Sioen started her career at Sioen Industries in 1990. Sioen Industries produces technical textiles, technical protective clothing and specialised chemicals. Sioen Industries is a growing company focusing on innovation, research and development. In 2005, Michèle Sioen was appointed CEO of the group.
In 2010, she became the President of Fedustria (the Belgian Federation of the Textile, Wood and Furniture Industries). She was member of the Board of Directors of Belgacom from 2007 until 2013. She is also an administrator in several other companies (including D’ieteren and ING Belgium), a member of the Corporate Governance Commission and a director of Guberna.
