Radio netmanager Chantal Pattyn has been working in broadcasting since 1988. With its constant presure from deadlines and competition, that in itself is an achievement. As a presenter and manager Pattyn is a teamleader as well as a team member.

During her sofa session, she will be talking about her experiences as a journalist and manager in an industry that is both in crisis and development. 

Biography

Chantal Pattyn (Kortrijk, 1968) studied art history & archeology with a focus on African Art (Ghent University, 1986­ - 1990). She started to work for the Flemish broadcaster VRT and Radio 1 in 1988. On Studio Brussel she was the host of the alternative music program Update and the cultural magazine Frituur Victoria.

Together with Ivan De Vadder she was hosting the popular TV news magazine De Zevende Dag. In 2000 she moved to Klara, the cultural channel where made the daily interview program Alinea. In 2007 Chantal Pattyn was appointed as director of Klara. Since 2013 she is the host of the art’s program Pompidou. Pattyn is also working as a journalist. She made a series of interviews with artists for De Standaard Magazine. Together with director Jan Blondeel she made documentaries (Goudvis/Canvas) on the artists Luc Tuymans, Hans Op De Beeck, Dirk Braeckman and architects Robbrecht & Daem. 

Since 2012 she is president of the board of the Kaaitheater. Pattyn is a member of the board of Bl!ndman, saxophone quartet. Since 2006 she is an elected member of the Culture Group of the European Boradcasting Union. Pattyn is also a Solvay Fellow at VUB.
